Welsh Assembly awards contract to Specsavers Corporate Eyecare

SPECSAVERS has won the contract to provide eyecare for the Welsh Assembly Government’s 6,500 employees.

After three years of servicing the contract, the company’s Corporate Eyecare division won the highly competitive re-tendering process to provide full eye examinations and VDU glasses, if required, to all members of staff within the Welsh Assembly Government. Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) regulations make it compulsory for all staff using Visual Display Units (VDUs) to be provided with this level of care. Finding high levels of service at a competitive price is important for any organisation but this is particularly vital in the public sector. Specsavers Corporate Eyecare’s voucher scheme offered the Welsh Assembly Government the value for money they required. The professional service they have provided for the past three years has helped to turn this obligatory care into a valued employee benefit.

Specsavers Corporate Eyecare has attended several successful Health Fair days, promoting the importance of eyecare to employees of the Welsh Assembly Government. With the aid of a vision screener, they carried out basic tests to establish whether employees needed an eye examination.

Having 41 Specsavers stores throughout Wales to choose from helped to secure the contract as it means employees of the Welsh Assembly Government do not have far to travel for eyecare.

Andy Drake, corporate account manager at Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, says: ‘We have been servicing this contract for the last three years but we were up against some tough competition when re-tendering, so winning the contract is excellent. We have built up a good relationship with the client and feedback from employees has been very positive.’

Specsavers Corporate Eyecare’s VDU vouchers are just £17 for the eyetest, which also includes a health check of the eye and glasses, if required for VDU use.
