The creation of effective partnerships between employers and
their staff is becoming increasingly important in delivering business objectives,
according to BP’s employee relations manager.
Speaking today at the Anuman 2001 conference in London, Alix
Thom told delegates that involving BP’s staff in decision making has been vital
in delivering business objectives and recruiting and retaining the right
people.Â
She said BP had learned a lot about effective consultation
with its employees through its plans to change its rescue and recovery system
for the workforce on its off-shore oil platforms. As a result of the
consultation process, the company had identified short comings in the proposal
and drastically increased the implementation time-scale.
