Bullying and victimisation culture within Surrey Police

by Personnel Today 6 Aug 2009
by Personnel Today 6 Aug 2009

A culture of bullying and victimisation is present at Surrey Police, an employment tribunal has heard.

Bernard Cambi, a former officer, has told a tribunal that many colleagues were “bullied into submission” while they were with the force. Another former officer at Surrey, Alison Wheeler, is seeking £350,000 in compensation for unfair dismissal.

Cambi, who had submitted his own grievances during his employment, alleged that members of the force were made to feel fearful and uneasy by their superiors. According to the BBC, Cambi also added that Wheeler was allegedly reprimanded “unnecessarily” by others within the force, supporting her claims of unfair dismissal.

The tribunal continues.
