Alistair Darling, trade and industry secretary, names his team

Alistair Darling, the new trade and industry secretary, has outlined the responsibilities of his ministerial team and announced the appointment of three new ministers to the Department of Trade and Industry.

Margaret Hodge, formerly employment minister, becomes minister of state for industry and the regions.

Ian McCartney becomes minister of state for trade, investment and foreign affairs.

Jim Fitzpatrick becomes parliamentary under secretary for employment relations and the minister for London. He will have responsibility for maximising potential in the workplace; better regulation and conciliation service Acas.
