American
Express is to introduce an initiative that will give its employees the chance
to work abroad on projects to help developing nations.
The
scheme has been set up in association with the international development
charity VSO.
Employees
from the financial services company will contribute their expertise to
communities abroad on three to twelve month placements.
They
will work in countries such as Zambia and Bangladesh in marketing, finance and
business management placements.
Christine
Robinson, head of HR at American Express said, “The scheme provides employees
with high levels of responsibility and unique hands-on experiences in
challenging circumstances.
“A
programme such as this helps to develop motivated and adaptable individuals,
whose insight and experiences lend a valuable contribution to the company upon
their return.”
