Assessing risk must be done with equality

"We have to rethink our gender neutral approach to health and safety,
as it tends to discriminate against women", according to the director of
the European Agency for Safety and Health

During his presentation on the objectives of the agency and its work in
promoting health and safety (H&S) throughout the EU, Hans-Horst Konkolewsky
remarked that gender-sensitive risk assessments must be taken to ensure both
men and women are protected at work.

He told delegates that the agency is not centralist, and is working hard to
develop a network of links for all member states. He also outlined the ways the
agency is communicating on all matters relating to H&S and described
several information projects in currently in operation.
