UK airline BMI has averted strike action by agreeing a three-year pay deal with pilots’ union Balpa.
The unions said the issues affecting 650 pilots across the airline’s three divisions – BMI Baby, BMI Mainline and BMI Regional – had now been resolved.
“It has been a lengthy period of tough negotiations, but we have come up with solutions on which we will be consulting members,” said Balpa general secretary Jim McAuslan.
The strike ballot had been caused by a row over pay, pensions and rotas. Pilots said the pay deal had been imposed without consultation.
