Ben Verwaayen told the FT that Britain needs to face up to competitive pressures and should not fight outsourcing.

“In this entrepreneurial new world, which runs on digital knowledge and information, a state-of-the-art, intelligent broadband network is the central and critical feature,” Verwaayen told the newspaper.
