Less than one-third of small businesses have taken steps to prepare for forthcoming changes to the payroll system, which will require them to provide real time PAYE information to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
Changes to the current payroll system mean that from 6 April PAYE-registered businesses will be required to provide real time information to HMRC.
A survey of more than 1,000 PAYE-registered businesses by accounting and payroll service provider Intuit found that, while 60% of respondents are aware of the change, few have taken action to prepare.
