Employers in London are being urged to get involved with London Cares Day next month to help young people in deprived areas by offering them career advice and recreational projects.
Charity Business in the Community (BITC) is calling on businesses in the capital to take part in a voluntary day on 19 May. Employers can enter teams of up to 11 people to join in with a range of projects, including organising sports events, decorating, gardening and providing CV advice to young people.
Julia Cleverdon, CEO of BITC said: “We’re asking London’s workforce to leave their desks for a day and take part in a fun and rewarding day that benefits the young people of this city.
“London is a thriving, vibrant city where business booms and affluent living resides. But it is also home to some of the most deprived boroughs in England and the highest rate of child poverty in the country.”
Cleverdon said that participating businesses would benefit from increased motivation and strengthened team work.
