Caterer.com Launch National Awards Recognising Hospitality Industry’s Best Employers

by Personnel Today 10 Feb 2011
by Personnel Today 10 Feb 2011

Awards celebrating the hospitality industry’s best employers are now open for entries from hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars and caterers across the UK.

Following the success of the inaugural Best Employers in Hospitality Awards held in Scotland last year, hospitality recruitment specialist, Caterer.com has announced that 2011 will see the awards rolled out nationally, with ceremonies planned for both Scotland and London.

For the first time, hospitality employers across the country will be able to put themselves forward for the awards which were previously only open to Scottish businesses.

Ian Burke, Website Director for Caterer.com said: “The Best Employers in Hospitality Awards are unique in that the employees vote for their own employer. This means that the awards truly do represent the industry’s best employers in the eyes of those that know them best.”

Last year’s awards generated widespread interest, with entries from hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars, caterers and suppliers to the industry. Entrants were simply required to email their employees a link to an online employee engagement tool supplied by hospitality talent specialists – learnpurple. This system then ranked all entries based on the employee’s answers, providing a Top 30 Best Employers in Hospitality, and a winner for each of the award categories.

Jane Sunley, Managing Director of learnpurple said of their involvement: “As experts in helping organisations become better places to work, learnpurple are partnering with Caterer.com to help showcase the best of the best when it comes to employers in hospitality. These awards will make a real difference by helping to promote and highlight best practice in the industry”

All shortlisted employers are invited to the spectacular awards ceremonies to be held in London and Edinburgh later this year. Employers can enter the awards for free by visiting www.bestemployersinhospitalty.com. Entry deadline for England & Wales entries is 15th April and for Scotland is 29th July 2011.

Entrants should note however, that they will need to leave sufficient time for employees to complete the questionnaires by the deadline to qualify for entry.

Last years Best Employers in Hospitality winners included overall winners Hudsons Catering, with category awards going to Xpress Recruitment, M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park, Ask Restaurants, Orchid Group, Prestige Scotland, Marriott, The Horseshoe Inn and the Majestic Line.
