CIPD conference faces rival London event

by Rob Moss 2 Feb 2011
by Rob Moss 2 Feb 2011

London will host a major HR exhibition and conference this autumn to rival the CIPD’s Manchester-based annual event.

Personnel Today has learnt that the National Hall at the Olympia exhibition complex in Kensington has been booked in October for an event called “HR Performance”.

In what is believed to be the first attempt to launch a large-scale HR event in the capital in more than decade, HR Performance will comprise a two-day exhibition and six conference halls, each with a capacity of approximately 100 delegates. There will also be a 250-seat theatre for keynote speeches.

Rock Media, a company run by David Jones, is behind the event. Jones was involved for many years in the organisation of the CIPD annual event before it moved from Harrogate to Manchester in 2009. Rock Media was not available for comment.

The size of the hall booked at Kensington Olympia would suggest the attendance of around 3,500 delegates and as many as 100 exhibitors. The CIPD’s annual conference and exhibition in Manchester takes place on 8-10 November.
