Why all the confusion over the difference between coaching and mentoring as discussed in your March issue? Surely mentoring involves someone experienced in particular skills and knowledge passing on the same to someone who wants to learn. This is usually done in an ad hoc manner in the workplace.
Coaching, on the other hand, is holding conversations that tease out subject’s goals and aspirations with a view to discussing how and when they can be achieved.
