Communications Workers Union urges BT workers to accept 4.7% offer

BT workers have today been advised to accept a pay rise of 4.7% for 2007-08, just days after they rejected an offer of 4.2%.

The Communications Workers Union said the offer from the telecommunications giant represented a significant increase in pay.

If they accept it, employees will receive a 4.7% increase in base pay and pay-related allowances with effect from 1 April 2007, with an increase 0.5% above the RPI inflation rate on 1 April 2008.

The union members turned down the earlier 4.2% offer saying it represented a pay cut in real terms.
