Croydon Council Selects OrgPlus Enterprise to Tackle New Budget Constraints

SaaS org charting solution helps forward-thinking council plan organisational changes as part of comprehensive spending review.

HumanConcepts, the leading provider of workforce decision support solutions, has deployed its OrgPlus Enterprise solution at Croydon Council. The Council is using the Software as a Service (SaaS) version of OrgPlus Enterprise to manage its organisational structures for more than 10,000 staff. The selection of OrgPlus Enterprise, part of the Council’s approach to meet the nationwide spending review initiative and service delivery requirements, will help Council management more effectively plan and deploy its staff within the new budget constraints.

According to Steven Clarke, Workforce Analyst and Information Manager at Croydon Council, “As part of the spending review we wanted to provide management teams with improved intelligence so that they can make informed decisions on the Council’s organisational structure.  It is invaluable for managers to have at their fingertips a very powerful tool for restructuring and organisation management, as well as for providing accurate information for reporting.  Displaying the data visually makes it much easier to see how we can best deploy staff in positions across departments and to avoid double accounting of possible savings.”

The Council workforce team is using data from its Midland Trent HR management solution to populate OrgPlus Enterprise. This lets Council managers view organisational charts graphically. The Council plans to roll out access to OrgPlus Enterprise (password protected for different levels of information) so staff can use it as a visual employee directory and quickly look up a colleague’s title, position and department. Staff will also be able to feedback on the information displayed, improving the overall quality of data held.

“Deploying OrgPlus Enterprise software as a service solution made it easy and quick to set up and very cost effective,” said Steven Clarke. “The facility will also help us with our data integrity drive. We are planning to enable employees to view the charts on our intranet and feedback any changes – they will also be able to see how colleagues fit into the overall organisation.”

Gillian Daniels, EMEA Director at HumanConcepts, said, “With the government’s spending review, the public sector is facing significant cuts over the next four years. Forward-thinking organisations are looking for ways to meet budget restrictions while minimising impact on staff and service delivery objectives. OrgPlus Enterprise empowers managers to make informed decisions about optimising the organisation to meet the challenges ahead.”
