Deloitte chief earns £3.6m a year

John Connolly, senior partner and chief executive at consultancy Deloitte is the UK’s best paid accountant, earning £3.6m last year.

Connolly, who also writes for Personnel Today, earns twice as much as Kieran Poynter, the UK chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Deloitte disclosed details of its partners’ earnings for the first time last year after becoming a limited liability partnership. The average pay for its partners increased from £621,000 in 2003 to £702,000 last year.

The firm is one of the UK’s largest graduate recruiters, taking on 850 graduates in 2004.
