Echelon in CPD joint initiative with the Institute of Payroll Professionals

by Personnel Today 6 Mar 2009

Organisation development consultancy Echelon has partnered with the Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) to launch an online learning resource to help the Institute’s members achieve their continuing professional development (CPD) aims.

Based on Echelon’s popular ‘Learning Matters’ online learning library, the IPP branded site makes available to members:

  • 70 action lists that provide performance support on everyday issues

  • 200 self-development solutions to build new knowledge and skills

  • 150 book digests that introduce the work of some of the world’s leading management thinkers.

The IPP’s 5,000+ members will have 24/7 access to learning covering a wide range of subject areas, including leadership, communication, teamwork, finance and customer relationships.  Echelon worked with the IPP to identify the subject areas that are of greatest interest and priority to members.  The solutions have the dual purpose of providing new knowledge and skills and acting as just-in-time reference tools to support accurate and productive working.

Alistair Morrison, CEO of Echelon, commented: “Often, professionals spend so long on gaining and maintaining their technical skills that the equally important areas of personal and management development are overlooked.  This new online learning library offers the IPP members a chance to redress the balance in a highly efficient and cost-effective way.  The library contains a wealth of material – solution prices range from £2 to £10 each – that can be studied at the time and place best suited to the individual’s workload and preference.

“Moreover, if IPP members feel that they would like learning materials on subjects not covered in the online library, they can pass their request to the IPP and Echelon will then add these to the library,” he added.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this online learning resource to all of our members in order to support their continuing professional development.  Echelon have a variety of learning tools available which are suitable to all professionals and we are confident that our members will benefit from the action lists, self-development solutions and book digests available,”  commented Liz Lay, IPP’s associate director for professional development.

The IPP’s online learning library can be accessed via www.payrollprofession.org
