Employers
are refusing to bankroll training for IT professionals because of fears that
fully qualified staff will move to another firm once certified.
Around
100 IT staff were questioned by The Training Camp consultancy and the resulting
report highlights employers’ reluctance to pay for training that leads to
recognised certification.
The
survey revealed that more than half of those polled were paying for training
courses out of their own pockets.
Firms
were much more likely to provide IT courses that didn’t offer certification,
such were the fears that staff might leave or ask for higher wages.
