The suits in charge of the beautiful game have been boosted by the appointment of the Football Association’s (FA) first female head of HR.
Melanie Madeley has joined the governing body – based at Soho Square, London – and will report directly to chief executive Brian Barwick as part of the senior management team. Madeley, a self-confessed sports fan, has held a number of senior-level HR roles in both the public and private sector, including the Treasury, the Health Commission, and Yates’s Wine Lodge.
Luckily for Madeley, the FA has successfully moved on from its recent scandals, and Steve McClaren has replaced a certain Swedish lothario as England’s head coach. Let’s hope Keiron Dyer (pictured) can help the team replicate that success on the pitch against Israel in Tel Aviv next weekend.
