Finance
directors of FTSE 100 companies enjoyed an average pay rise of more than 15 per
cent last year, according to research published today.
The
survey claims that cash bonuses increased by more than half despite a 10.2 per
cent fall in the FTSE 100 Index last year. The rise comes despite warnings on
pay restraint from government and investors.
Finance
directors got paid £531,593 last year, according to the survey by Financial
Director magazine. The research, which uses information disclosed in companies’
latest annual reports, says basic salaries rose by 9 per cent while bonuses
climbed 55 per cent.
