Members
of the GMB union working in local authorities have decided to reject a 3 per
cent pay offer.
In
a full postal ballot of GMB members covered by the negotiating council for
local government workers, the NJC for Local Authority Services, the membership
decided to reject the offer by 9:1.
Around
30 per cent of eligible GMB members voted in the ballot.
The
GMB said it is seeking further meetings with the National Employers and will
demand an improved offer.
It
said if an improved offer is not made the union may conduct an industrial
action ballot.
