House, the diversity and equal opportunity development agency is to use its
eighth Annual Diversity Awards, to launch the Diversity Practice Index, which
aims to make diversity management more transparent, coherent, credible and
accountable.
The
awards, which take place on 22 November consist of 17 categories, the most
prestigious being the BDA Fellowship Award and the Best Diversity Champion
Award – the latter won for the past two years by the Royal Navy.
AnSer
House founder Elaine Sihera said: "Equal opportunity or diversity, in the
UK, are currently meaningless concepts, open to any interpretation, without
reference points or firm comparisons."
She
said the Index should set a national benchmark for effective management and
greater understanding of diversity issues.
