Just over a week ago, one of Europe’s most high-profile businesswomen addressed the ‘Women’s Forum’ in France. Anne Lauvergeon, chief executive of French nuclear company Areva, told the conference that it was “humiliating” for companies to create quotas aimed at promoting a certain amount of women into senior positions in the workplace.

Now here’s the problem: In Europe, men are having real difficulties fighting against the discrimination practised by women against men trying to stamp out discrimination practised by men against women.
Men try to take these radical steps to help, but just find themselves addressed in such derogatory terms by women such as Ms Lauvergeon. This oppression of the male worker should not be allowed to go on, but it does. So beware when working abroad as it seems hell hath no fury like a woman promoted.
