Workers who handle post have been put on high alert following a number of
Anthrax scares last week (see above).
Staff in protective clothing were led away from a Liverpool depot by
Merseyside Ambulance decontamination staff after coming into contact with a
suspect package.
Consignia has issued guidelines to help employers protect postroom staff
from the threat of Anthrax infections.
The Royal Mail has also briefed its staff on procedures following a spate of
biological attacks through the postal network in America.

The company, which has been inundated with enquiries from worried employers,
has warned staff handling post to be wary of letters that are unexpected or
unfamiliar.
Letters that have no return address, where spelling mistakes in common words
or which have incorrect titles should also be treated with caution.
