Staff
have complained after a hospital gave them pens that look like blood-filled
syringes to celebrate receiving a government award.
According
to BBC online, the pens were awarded to staff at Birmingham Heartlands and
Solihull Hospital for maintaining their three-star rating.

Trade
union Unison has criticised the move, describing it as "disgraceful and
offensive", but Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull NHS Trust (Teaching)
said the pens are "widely used as promotional items in the health sector
and have proved very popular with staff".
