Founded:
The college is more than 100 years old, having celebrated its centenary in 1998.
College
CV: Mid Cheshire is a further education college recruiting mainly from the
locality. There are about 14,000 students housed at the Hartford, Winsford and
London Road sites (Hartford is only just over two miles from the Cheshire town
of Northwich) and there are also local community sites throughout the county.
With more than 12,000 students attached to the college being part-time, the
average age at the college is 32. HR courses are the remit of the Business
School, which has recently relocated to Hartford from the Winsford campus. It
has been a CIPD approved centre for several years. The college is well-placed
for taking advantage of the latest educational advances since it has been
involved in several government-funded projects, including the development of
virtual reality, internet-based open learning and interactive multi-media
environments and programmes. It was a designated LearnDirect ‘hub’ during the
first phase of the Government’s e-learning programme and offers a range of
courses via this.
