A round-up of the latest HR appointments.
Joanne Findlay has taken up the role of human resources director at Appley Westward Group, the regional distribution company for Spar stores in the south west. This is the first time the company has appointed an HR professional at director level and managing director John Pattison remarked that the appointment underlines Appley Westward Group’s commitment to attracting, developing and retaining talent. Findlay joined the company from Roadchef Motorways, where she was responsible for the company’s field human resources team.

Engineering and construction company Costain has appointed Christina Wade as its new director of human resources. Christina joins from energy company Centrica and will lead the group’s people strategies for nearly 2,300 employees. She has more than 20 years’ experience in HR, most recently as head of human resources at Centrica’s corporate centre.
Anne Gibson, head of human resources and organisational development at Norfolk County Council, took over as president of the Public Sector People Managers’ Association (PPMA) last month. Gibson has served as vice president of the PPMA for the last year and takes over as president from Dean Shoesmith, executive head of HR at the London Boroughs of Sutton and Merton, who has served in the role for the past year.
