The HR director at Haymarket has left the publishing company after little more than a month in the role, Personnel Today has learned.
Nick Bacon, who has also held senior HR positions at communications company Cable & Wireless and financial services company Credit Suisse First Boston, took up the Haymarket role on 1 December, but left earlier this month in mysterious circumstances.
Staff at the company, which publishes magazines such as WhatCar?, FourFourTwo and Campaign, were simply told Bacon was leaving with no explanation. Former interim director of HR, Ian Ashcroft, who left when Bacon was recruited, has returned to replace him.

Bacon was introduced to Haymarket staff with a great fanfare – joining at a time when the company was “introducing a number of new initiatives aimed at strengthening Haymarket’s position as a great place to work and to build a career”.
His abrupt departure – about which no-one at Haymarket was able to divulge any more detail – has left staff questioning the company’s commitment to HR.
