The
Health and Safety Executive has launched a new report into controlling stress
in the UK health service.
The
study, conducted by Professor Tom Cox CBE, contains:
• A
methodology for assessing psycho-social risks and organisational hazards
•
Information on how to prioritise findings and translate them into action plans
•
Information on how to implement and evaluate interventions
•
Case studies to illustrate the model
The
report was published following earlier research that suggested stress was
leading to between 30 and 40 per cent of all sickness absence in the NHS.
In
the coming months the HSE will be working with the NHS trusts involved in the
studies to review the interventions and the impact on stress levels.
