New
fears of strikes by London Underground workers have been sparked after unions
threatened industrial action over safety problems.
Union
officials said talks on the safety of the controversial part-privatisation of
the Tube were a sham, according to website Ananova.
Bob
Crow, general secretary of the Rail Maritime and Transport union, said unless
LU entered into meaningful consultations he will set in motion a ballot for
industrial action.
Crow
allegedly claimed that "LU has withheld information, failed to consult our
reps properly and failed to provide us with up-to-date documents".
He
added that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) for LU was being "rushed
through" to comply with a political deadline.
