IT pay falls substantially

IT pay has fallen again. A survey by iProfileskills of 20,000 IT
professionals by iProfileStats, shows that rates fell by 16 per cent and 17 per
cent respectively between January and May 2002, suggesting that an upturn is
unlikely before next year.

It also finds that telecommunications and finance are the highest-paying
sectors for permanent IT staff, offering median salaries of around £32,000. The
lowest -paying sectors are health and pharmaceuticals (£23,000) and the
Government (£22,560.)
