ITV is on the hunt for a new HR director following the announcement that Philippa Hird will step down after five years in the job.
Hird, a former CIPD vice-president for employee relations, has been with ITV and its predecessor Granada for two decades, and will leave the network at the end of 2008 to develop her portfolio career.
“I have worked with some wonderful people both inside and outside the company and am hugely proud of what we have achieved together,” said Hird.
“I have been fortunate enough to have had one of the most challenging HR jobs in the UK during a period of almost constant change.”
John Cresswell, ITV’s chief operating officer, will be joined by Hird in the search for her replacement.

“As HR director, Philippa has successfully overseen some of the biggest internal changes in ITV’s history and has championed culture change,” said Cresswell.
After a series of line management positions, Hird was appointed head of personnel for London Weekend Television in 1996, before becoming HR director for Granada Media in 1997 and for Granada plc in 2001.
