The boss of one of Britain’s biggest pub chains has set off on a six-month
long, unpaid sabbatical.
Tim Martin, founder of JD Wetherspoon, will be away from his desk for half
the year, and has said he is fulfilling a long-standing ambition.
Martin will spend some of his time off travelling.
The move follows closely behind Alan Milburn’s decision to quit the cabinet
and spend more time with his family – and signals that the trend for increased
work-life balance is now reaching the very top end of Government and business.
