Jewellery retailer Signet is hoping to improve the speed and consistency of
its recruitment by launching a career website for management applications.
A new central recruitment team will manage the online applications, which
should ensure all jobseekers have a uniform experience, wherever they are
based.
The firm, which runs Ernest Jones, H Samuel and Leslie Davis, hopes the
scheme will help attract the best talent and enable HR to get candidates in
posts more quickly.
Signet also hopes the move to web-based recruitment will reduce the burden
on HR, which currently has to manually sift through applications.
Each brand will have its own site and the recruitment team will be able to
post vacancies from any of its 607 stores directly onto the relevant web page.
Resourcing manager Sheena Macdonald said the move would speed up the
selection process and enable candidates to be dealt with efficiently, while giving
the company a better overall system.
"Whether applicants are successful or not, we can be confident they
will always receive a good impression of the way they are treated. This is all
important in a retail business where your candidates are also your
customers," she explained.
The system, which was designed by Workthing, will also enable the team to
monitor the status of the entire recruitment process across the country.
"The technology will give the team visibility on the recruitment
process throughout the UK at the touch of a button, which is particularly
useful for us to keep track of nationwide store recruitment," said
Macdonald.
