Pop singer Lily Allen will star in a TUC cartoon to encourage workers to improve their skills.
The 10-minute animated film, entitled ‘Kate and Umar’s Incredible Learning Journey’, will be played at music festivals such as Glastonbury 2008, and feature the Smile singer, indie-band The Levellers and cartoon characters to urge people to go on training courses.
Unionlearn, the skills arm of the TUC, said it wanted to use the film to publicise the efforts of 18,000 union learning reps throughout the UK.
Unionlearn director Liz Smith said: “Through showing this DVD at events such as Glastonbury and other music festivals we will be able to encourage people from all walks of life to consider how their unions can help them with their education.
