Audio learning is back in vogue – thanks to the almost ubiquitous MP3 player.
So says Matt Fox, a partner at Brighton learning consultancy Kineo.
“Audio learning is nothing new, but thanks to MP3 players, we have new channels for delivery. Informal and mobile learning will be hot topics in 2006 and audio learning is at the intersection of both.”
Last month, Kineo asked users of its website what types of content were best suited to audio learning. Leadership and management was rated number one followed closely by sales and product knowledge.

But, warns Fox, those who design and buy audio learning content must consider the pros and cons of the MP3 medium.
“We have to do two things: design it (the content) properly in short modular clips, not 30 minute monologues; and make access easier.”
