More mass strikes could be on the way for local government as Unison said it was looking at the next steps to take in the dispute about pensions.
Yesterday workers across the UK took action over government plans to stop them retiring at 60.
The unions claimed that more than one million people supported the strike, although local government employers say the number was much lower.
Unison general secretary Dave Prentis said: “Our industrial action committee meets tomorrow to discuss the next stage of strike action, because we are in this for the long haul.
“We welcome the fact that the government has just called a tripartite meeting for tomorrow and we hope that together we can resolve this unfair and discriminatory situation.”
