London does the business when it comes to conferences

London is the world’s favourite conference destination beating Barcelona, Paris and New York in a global poll.

The results of the survey, carried out among readers of business tourism magazine Conference & Incentive Travel, come as no surprise to David Hornby, commercial director of Visit London.

He said: “London has an unrivalled variety of unique and cutting-edge venues. It also has a wealth of creative and experienced talent.”

Vast and ultra-modern venues sit comfortably alongside the intimate and distinctive, he said.

Being a future Olympic host city will also prove a real selling point, attracting more group business to the capital, said Hornby, as former Olympic host countries benefited from the ‘Olympic effect’ before, during and even after the games.

London also laid claim to being home to the UK’s favourite purpose-built venue, with Docklands-based conference, exhibition and events venue ExCeL taking the top honour.
