Greater holiday entitlement is at the top of staff wish lists when it comes to benefits packages, according to a new study.
In a survey of almost 2,000 people by monster.co.uk, 40 per cent of respondents said that more holiday was the most important part of their benefits package.
The poll confirms the popular belief in the UK that there are not enough public holidays in comparison to the rest of Europe.
British workers get eight public holidays a year, compared with 14 in Spain and Portugal, and 12 in Italy. Only 17 per cent of UK workers wanted better pensions provision.
In contrast, of the 17, 358 Europeans who were asked, more holiday entitlement came third in the list of benefits priorities, with a mere 23 per cent. Better salaries and bonuses came out on top with 41 per cent.
