Myners to chair Low Pay Commission

Trade and industry secretary Alan Johnson has announced the appointment of Paul Myners to the chair of  the Low Pay Commission.

The commission is non-governmental organisation responsible for providing advice about the National Minimum Wage (NMW).

“The Low Pay Commission has been instrumental in ensuring the National Minimum Wage has been a great success. The way the Commission has worked together as a team provides proof that social partnership can work and I’m sure that Mr Myners will continue this good work,” Johnson said.

Myners, chairman of the Guardian Media Group, will replace Lord Adair Turner, who will be standing down in March.
