New HR chief for O2

by Louisa Peacock 24 Jul 2007
by Louisa Peacock 24 Jul 2007

Telecoms firm O2 UK will announce the appointment of Ann Pickering as its new head of HR today (Tuesday), replacing former HR director Dominic Mahony.

Pickering will take on the task of driving forward O2’s people strategy, particularly focusing on motivating and engaging employees and ensuring their continued development.

Her role is a direct replacement for Mahony’s, despite the different job titles, and she will report to chief executive Matthew Key.

Key said: “Pickering will work to ensure our [people strategy] remains at the heart of O2’s strategic agenda and our quest to become an even better place to work.”

Pickering was formerly general manager of HR for the customer services division of O2 UK.

The company refused to give a reason for Mahony’s departure. At the time of his appointment less than a year ago, Mahony was described by O2 as a “strong addition” to the HR team.
