Carolyn McCall, chief executive of Guardian Newspapers, has been appointed as the new chairwoman of Opportunity Now. Representing employers with a combined workforce of more than 4.2 million, Opportunity Now is a leading UK organisation working towards gender equality and diversity in the workplace.
Darren Parris has joined the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as head of HR. He worked in at the Halifax bank from 1985 and after various operational roles within the branch network, Parris moved into a regional HR position in 1990. In 2001, he was appointed the head of HR at the Financial Ombudsman Service in London.
Paul Brewer has joined Quintessential Hotels as director of HR. He has a diverse career background, starting out as a store manager with Woolworths before moving into training and employee relations roles. In 1995, he moved into the hotel world by joining the Forte Group as HR manager at one of its flagship properties, the Cumberland, Marble Arch, before becoming head of HR for the London Signature brand.
