One in three believe age can affect job ability

One
in three people believe that age can affect a person’s ability to do certain
jobs, according to recent research.

A
survey of 599 members of the public by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and
Development (CIPD) and Taylor Nelson Sofres also finds that one in five had
been discouraged from applying for a job, as they felt the recruitment
advertisement communicated an age restriction.

The
survey also found that fewer than one in 10 believe age ranges should be
included in job descriptions.
