A
new web page aimed at improving safety in the workplace has been launched by
the HSE.
The
page covers the roles and responsibilities of employers and staff as well as
workplace problems including whistle-blowing, the reporting of accidents and
contact points.
Links
to other health and safety websites, including the TUC’s site, have been
included, and there is also a link to the HSE’s InfoLine contact centre. The
page has been designed to be one click away from the site’s homepage due to HSE
research.
"Increasing
use of the Internet makes the Workers Web page an ideal tool for getting HSE’s
health and safety message across. In working with stakeholders, we are
committed to operating in a modern and open fashion," said HSE chairman
Bill Callaghan.
"By
reaching out to key customers and explaining workers’ rights and
responsibilities, we are laying the foundations of knowledge that will help to
make our workplaces safer to be in."
