The term human resources is demeaning to working people and sends the wrong
signal to staff, according to one of the UK’s most experienced personnel
directors.
In a scathing attack, Mike Judge, of car firm Peugeot, said employers using
the HR title send a message to staff that they are only as important as
machines.

"Of course what we do and how we do it is more important than what we
call ourselves, but… the trend of calling ourselves the human resources
department sends out signals about our profession that I hope are not
true," Judge argued.
"I am no dinosaur but I am a personnel director. I do not think we need
to invent jargon to describe our responsibilities for people."
