The Quality Improvement Agency, (QIA) set up by the government to work across the learning and skills sector to improve performance, has launched an online portal to enhance the skills development for those people involved in all aspects of further education.
The Excellence Gateway provides access to guidance and information on effective practice to help individuals further develop their own skills and professional knowledge. It also enables people to learn directly from and interact with others in the sector.

Andrew Thomson, chief executive of the QIA, said: “The concept behind the Excellence Gateway is to allow anyone employed in further education an easy entry point into continuing their personal professional development.
Sir George Sweeney, chair of the Further Education Sector Self Regulation Implementation Group and member of the National Council of the Learning and Skills Council said: “The UK’s 60,000 further education staff play a pivotal role in the learning and development of more than four million students every year, both young and old.
