Recruitment
has been the top priority for HR professionals in the last year, finds a
survey.
More
than 300 HR managers and directors were surveyed by IRS Employment Review and
three-quarters reported recruitment was their main focus for the year.
More
than 80 per cent of public sector HR professionals highlighted recruitment as
their main priority – the highest of the sampled groups.
Absence
management is the second most important area for HR professionals. Almost
two-thirds of respondents nominated this as a priority, with 10 per cent rating
it as the most challenging issue of the year. The report finds this is
considered a higher priority by managers than directors.
Coping
with the demands of organisational restructuring is considered a priority by
six in 10 of the surveyed organisations, with just under a fifth identifying
this as the most challenging issue they had faced.
Almost
60 per cent cited staff retention as being of most importance and one in 12 of
respondents rank this as the most challenging issue they have faced over the
past year.
