Religion and Belief – Respecting and accommodating faith and belief in the workplace

Title: Religion and Belief – Respecting and accommodating faith and belief in the workplace
Price: DVD and video package prices on application
From: Skillboosters at BDP Media Group

This is a low-key training package that benefits from a thoughtful and measured approach to dealing with religious diversity in the workplace.
It offers a guide to the most widely practised belief systems in the UK, from Christianity to humanism, taking in Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Sikhism along the way.

I was impressed by the balanced approach, which features commentary from leading figures such as Caroline Warters of BT, who is also chairperson of the Employers’ Forum on Belief, and Nicola Dandridge, head of equality at Thompsons Solicitors.
Individuals explain the importance of their beliefs while experts give advice on the types of adjustments that can be made to accommodate different faith groups.

This package could be put to good use in an equal opportunity and diversity programme. And, although the accompanying workbook looks humble, it conveys the key learning points well enough.
