Large numbers of retailers are suffering from the economic slowdown, but a new survey into staff opinion has offered them some light relief.
The survey, from employee research firm ORC International, shows that 73% of staff working in the UK retail sector feel secure in their jobs. This compares with a UK norm of 64%.
Retail employees are also the most satisfied with their jobs, scoring 76% on this issue which compares with a UK norm of 68%, and is the highest score across all sectors.

Almost three-quarters of retail sector employees (74%) intend to still be working for the same company in twelve month’s time. This compares with a UK norm of 66%.
When asked about recognition and management style, 73%of employees in the retail sector are satisfied with the recognition they receive from managers. This compares with a UK norm of 69% and is the highest score across all sectors.
