RWE Npower has appointed Chris Pilgrim as its new HR director.
Pilgrim replaces Saudagar Singh, who leaves today (30 October) after nine years with the energy firm. He has worked at British Steel, Exxon Mobil, Nutricia and, most recently, spent three years as HR director at Uniq, a food manufacturing organisation.
Singh has featured regularly in Personnel Today’s HR Power Players list. His inventive approach to appealing to the best and brightest engineering students includes sending top staff to lecture at universities, and putting senior company figures on the boards of university engineering faculties.

Singh joined Npower in 2000 as HR director of its retail business before taking on wider responsibilities in 2003.
Singh said: “I’ve had a great time at RWE Npower, and after six years in my current job, I think it’s time for a fresh challenge in a new role and an office base a little closer to home.”
